Chris Hawkins | Three Pointers Leadership Series | 07

Vice President of Brand Strategy

Secured Tech

Welcome to a special episode of our Three Pointers Leadership Series.

This time, we’re flipping the script. After traveling across Indiana to hear from education leaders, Chris Hawkins is stepping out from behind the questions and into the interview seat, with Secured Tech VP of Solutions Macara Aloi taking over as host.

And there couldn’t be a more fitting place for the conversation. Macara joins Chris on the Indiana basketball court where he grew up playing—a place that played an important role in shaping who he is today.

For this episode, Chris reflects on the lessons he learned growing up on this court, where playing alongside people much older than him meant earning every opportunity and proving he could contribute. It was also where he first began to appreciate the importance of relationships.

“When you’re not necessarily the best player when you start out, you’ve got at least to be pretty likable…and treat people the right way.”

Those early experiences taught Chris lessons about advocating for himself and others, treating people well, and building trust—lessons he carried into his professional life.

The conversation comes full circle as Chris and Macara look back on relationships that began through basketball decades ago and eventually became part of Secured Tech. Chris reflects on the qualities he saw early in Macara, Nate, Matt, and Josh—and how those relationships have continued to shape the team today.

What Chris learned on this court went far beyond basketball, shaping how he builds relationships, leads teams, and approaches opportunities today.
